Athlete activism remains a rare feature in elite sport. Yet, over the last few years, a number of high-level athletes from the ultra-trail running discipline have multiplied eco-activist behaviours. This study seeks to better understand why and how they decided to publicly defend environmental causes, and what consequences they experienced from this decision. Thanks to a qualitative research design interrogating 10 eco-activist professional ultra-trail runners, our findings define athlete eco-activism as an iterative process, with the potential consequences being evaluated and anticipated by the athletes, who adjust their eco-activism constantly to their personal conditions, their environment and social feedback. The results highlight how the professionalisation of trail-running undermines not only its traditional pro-environmental values but also the athletes' freedom of expression. We contribute to interactionist theories by unravelling the complexity of the social context embedding professional eco-activist athletes and enrich critical social theory by suggesting that paradoxically, low-key activism runs the risk of legitimising the current industrydominant model. Practical implications are also drawn.

Despite the existence of various hydrological and geophysical methods for characterizing the vadose zone and groundwater, it remains challenging to implement cost-effective, accurate, and efficient techniques for their long-term monitoring with high spatial resolution. A growing number of recent studies suggest that seismological methods based on continuous seismic noise recording can potentially address these difficulties. This study presents an original laboratory experiment aimed at assessing the sensitivity of passive seismic interferometry imaging (PII) to controlled fluctuations in water content. To achieve this, we used the recording of the seismic noise generated by a continuous seismic source to reconstruct ballistic surface Rayleigh waves propagating in the [200-500] Hz range within a 1-m scale sandbox. Multiple controlled cycles of water imbibition and drainage at the base of the sandbox produce significant variations in the seismic wavefield and especially in dominant surface waves. The large relative velocity variations δv=v ( 35%), measured in Rayleigh waves with a fine temporal resolution, match the water pressure measurements conducted within the sandbox. The observations are well predicted by an original theoretical approach combining a Biot-Gassmann-Wood poroelastic model that incorporates effective pressure fluctuations and the frequency-dependent sensitivity kernels of Rayleigh waves. These results confirm the potential of the PII method in monitoring saturation changes in the vadose zone as well as the substantial effect of effective pressure fluctuations, at least when Rayleigh waves dominate ballistic arrivals.
Plain Language Summary Despite the existence of various hydrological and geophysical methods for characterizing soils and groundwater, it remains challenging to implement cost-effective, accurate, and efficient techniques for their long-term monitoring with high spatial resolution. A growing number of recent studies suggest that seismological methods based on continuous seismic noise recording can potentially address these difficulties. This study presents an original laboratory experiment aimed at assessing the sensitivity of passive seismic interferometry imaging (PII) to water content. Multiple controlled cycles of water imbibition and drainage at the base of a sandbox produce significant variations in the seismic signals, and particularly in the surface waves. The experimental measurements are well depicted by an original theoretical approach that incorporates physical properties of the medium and the sensitivity of the seismic surface waves. These results confirm the potential of the PII method in monitoring saturation changes in soils presenting significant applications for the management of water resources.
Considered as an indicator of good mental health contributing to positive behaviors, self-esteem is impacted by body perception. Obesity is a risk factor for the development of low self-esteem, particularly among women. Age also plays a protective role in both the healthy population and those living with obesity. Since the relationship between self-esteem and BMI does not appear to evolve linearly, the aims of this study were ( 1) to analyze the link between BMI classes and global, multidimensional, and physical selfesteem, and (2) to identify a potential moderating effect of age. Global, multidimensional, and physical self-esteem were assessed using French versions of RSE, MSE and PSPP scales respectively in 454 women aged 18 to 75 stratified into five BMI groups: healthy weight, overweight, obesity class I, II and III. Global, multidimensional, and physical self-esteem appear to be related to BMI classes. Healthy weight women had significantly higher emotional, professional, physical domains and subdomains self-esteem scores than those in obesity class I, II or III. "Tipping points" associated with reaching a BMI threshold at which scores of self-esteem stabilize have been highlighted. These appeared at obesity class I and II, respectively, for the emotional and physical domains of self-esteem, and at overweight and obesity class II, respectively, for the physical strength and attractive body physical subdomains. Results also revealed a protective moderating effect of age on the relationship between BMI and physical self-esteem, and its subdomains. Obesity intervention programs should consider self-perceptions.

This research examines how marine education is approached within schools. It presents an original French program called "Marine Educational Areas" (MEA). This environmental education program, designed to encourage students to become eco-citizens, is currently expanding exponentially in primary and secondary schools in France. It is based on principles of management and participation, making students active protagonists in their own environmental education, centered on a coastal or marine area of their choice. Coordinated by the French Office for Biodiversity, the program is now an explicit

Methods. This cross-sectional mixed-methods study will include (a) an online survey distributed to facilitators of environmental awareness workshops across France, with the objective of reaching at least 500 respondents, and (b) semi-structured interviews with a subsample of approximately 30 participants. The quantitative component will assess multiple dimensions of facilitation engagement, pro-environmental behaviors (mitigation, adaptation, and collective action), climate-related emotions (including eco-anxiety, hope, and helplessness), as well as psychosocial variables such as ecological identity, selfand collective efficacy, sense of community, and political orientation. The qualitative component will provide in-depth insights into facilitatorsʼ motivations, perceived barriers, and subjective experiences of the personal and collective impact of their involvement.
Expected Results. The study will generate a multidimensional profile of facilitator engagement and identify key psychosocial predictors of sustained involvement. It will also document potential behavioral and psychological outcomes of facilitation, thereby informing strategies to better support, recognize, and sustain volunteer-driven environmental engagement.

« Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I assure you, it's much more serious than that.
